Homework Help For CPPM Algebra
Homework Help For CPPM AlgebraSome parents may not even know that there is homework help available to them. While it's true that many things are done differently in today's society, many kids are being taught important concepts about math. While children from many cultures have been in the habit of writing numbers down and even passing along their lists to their parents to count it to make sure they remember what the numbers are, some kids still do it in our day and age.CPPM, or the Common Core Mathematics Standards that were developed by the National Council for Mathematics Education have all of these numbers written down. While this might not be the right thing to do, it is a positive step towards teaching children math in an authentic way. So in a manner of speaking, kids can finally be given a second chance at doing something that has been done and perfected so many times in the past.I'm sure you've heard of this saying; 'what you see is what you get.' That being said, knowing th at math homework help is readily available, some parents may be on the lookout for good math homework help. Luckily, you can't go wrong with one of the online sources that specialize in helping the learning process. One of the areas that the Common Core Math Standards focuses on is the topic of 'reasoning about data'. Presidents Day - ALOHA Mind Math
Presidents Day Presidents Day is a celebration of both George Washingtons and Abraham Lincolns Birthdays. The Presidents are sorts of gifts that keeps on giving. Though they were born more than 100s of years ago, we all still get the day off around their birthday. With schools closed and hopefully offices, as well, all of us suddenly have a bonus day to do fun stuff with the kids. Fun for kids today is most probably eating out and having a game day with their friends, how many of us have actually put in some thought to know if our kids would know the reason behind having a holiday and celebrating it in true spirits? All said and done, I always wonder what one could do to keep the spirit of the holiday (Presidentâs day) alive and still have fun. Do you face a similar problem? I have come up with a list of activities which will allow you to educate your kid about the reason for getting a holiday, celebrating the holiday and letting them have a high quotient of fun as well. Yeah, History always does not have to be boring and a drag. There are lots of fun ways to get kids thinking about Americas Presidents. Here are few ideas that can help you get started on this day: Teach with fun: Ist always easy to remember short stories and especially the fun ones too. This Presidentsâ Day you can share fun facts about The Presidents with your kids Try out your crafting skills: Wall Flags, you and your kids can make the patriotic flag pennant by using a paper grocery bag or probably make a Presidentâs Day powdered wig; you can work with your kids to make a white wig with cotton balls. The result is really cute and I am quiet sure kids would love to dress up as Presidents of the past. There is an endless list of what you can make, take a quick spin around the web as it churns out some really cool and easy ideas of what you and your kids could craft together this Presidents day. Watch a movie: Its a great day to watch a movie that gives you a brief insight into the American history or simply for some to be a proud American. Few suggestions: Mr. Smith Goes to Washingtonâ, âPrimary Colors , W., J.F.K. and you could add as many as you like to this list. Read out a story: Legends have always been fascinating. Share the story ofGeorge Washingtons Cherry Tree, the humble beginnings of Abraham Lincoln,George Washingtons Teeth, or Looking at Lincoln or the story from Peter Roops bookLets Celebrate Presidents Day. I am going to be trying one of these if not all, we would like to know your plans and how you would spend your holiday this Presidentâsâ Day. Go on and share your stories with us.
Why I Teach Art...
Why I Teach Art... âDiamonds are created under pressure.âOne of my teachers told me this on a day when I was having a particularly hard time finishing an art project at school. I asked her why she said it, and she explained that even in the most difficult moments in our lives, we have the ability to generate sparkling brillianceâ¦.like a diamond. A new-found sense of possibility came into my spirit and I was able to create a beautiful sculpture out of the clay that I thought would forever remain a blob on the table!Children have an amazing ability to discover deep feelings and inspiration through creating art. Art allows us all to capture our imaginations and then interpret what we see in our minds eye through clay, paint, photography, tissue paper, mosaics or whatever we can get our hands on and heads around.I believe in teaching Art as if it is not simply the facility of learning how to manipulate a material or a achieving a skill or technique. I teach art as if it is a life lesson, a history le sson and journey to the core of the human soul.Art is a reflection of the human experience, therefore I teach the social and cultural context of an art-form first. Why was this particular art-form important? How did it function within a culture? History? What effect did it have on people? Then we go about learning materials, texture, technique and exploring the creative processâ¦.always asking questions and nurturing critical thinking skills along the way. Then we start laying out the piece, using math and geometry to plan how we will display or install the piece when it is finishedâ¦.discussing what we have learned and what the final piece means to us individually and as a group.I teach children that there is a beginning, middle and end to the process of creating. I teach them to think about how it will be presented, who will the audience be that receives it, and how might people interpret the piece when they see it?In that essence, I tell my students that there are no mistakes in Art, because Art is honest communication. Just like our feelings, every artistic moment is a chance to express what we feel, how strongly we feel, and make a choice about how we will interpret the ways we feel.Being able to take children on such a personal journey is both a great responsibility and tremendous joy. The Arts have the abilty to open our minds, heal our hearts and make the World a more interesting place. That is why I teach ARTâ¦â¦

Windows 8 3 Reasons Why You Shouldnt Upgrade
Windows 8 3 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Upgrade Photo from microsoft.com Windows 8 didnt look very new to me â" and I realized Id been seeing this same interface since the arrival of the Windows Phone. Microsoft is clearly cross-promoting their tablet, phone, Xbox and computer brand. The new interface, or rather the old interface formerly known as Metro, looks and feels like a touchscreen. Though Im sure Windows 8 works like a dream on convertible Tablet PCs, I still rely on my mousepad and wireless mouse, and the experience is truly sub-par. Windows 8 is made with fingers in mind, not mice. While the Windows 8 interface is very pretty, it is at the price of functionality. 2. A counter-intuitive learning curve For months, I thought that Windows 8 was essentially a faster Windows 7, just with a new start menu. How wrong I was. The system relies on mouse gestures such as moving to the corners to change windows, return to Start, use Charms and more to really work. The system is completely counter-intuitive, especially because it relies on a mobile-based interface. I spent most of the first day using Windows 8 just moving my mouse around and trying to learn all the new quirks. At first, I only had a few questions: Wheres the Control Panel, how do I scroll, etc. Gradually, more and more questions popped up: How do I close this app? How do I delete this tile from Start? Where are the rest of my programs? To top it all off, it took me an agonizing five minutes to figure out how to just shut down the computer. The first day using a new computer should be exciting and uplifting, not frustrating to the point that I want to tear out my hair. Ironically, for a system that simplifies the start menu, Windows 8 simply expects too much from its users. 3. Modern vs. Desktop Apps Windows 8 features new modern apps as its main attraction: users can click tiles on the Start menu that lead to clean, appealing full-screen PC-version mobile-style apps. The desktop is familiar to Windows 7 users, just missing the beloved Start button. Apps that dont have modern counterparts yet simply run on the Desktop. Best of both worlds right? Wrong. Desktop apps dont run in the modern, full-screen experience and vice versa. Switching from a modern app to the Desktop is easy enough, but switching from Desktop to a modern app or even from a modern app to another modern app requires waiting for the loading screen each time. This process wastes time and can become utterly infuriating. Users now have to remember which apps are running on Desktop and which require the modern interface. Even as an avid Windows lover, Windows 8 has earned two double facepalms from me. While the learning curve might be slightly less steep on a tablet PC, the rest of us traditional PC users are left with the considerably shorter end of the stick. With the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro starting at a discounted $40, I would cautiously urge you to reconsider putting that moolah towards something more useful. Thoughts? Love Windows? Hate it? Let us know in the comments below!
Andy Completes the October Language Challenge!
Andy Completes the October Language Challenge! Andy is our new UX Designer and recently joined the italki team in September. One of the first things he did was join the italki October Language Challenge as he really needs to improve his Chinese as you can tell from his Public Video Pledge. Hes graciously offered to blog about his experiences and how he is going to conquer the Challenge! Take it away Andy Yeah! I Made it!!! Im so happy i was finally able to focus an entire month on learning chinese, i really needed it! I always thought that chinese is way to difficult but it only requires some time and dedication. Looking back at it, it wasnt even so hard. 12 hours per month, or 3 hours per week are something really easy to achieve. The main lesson that i learnt is that i also needed to account time to review the lesson by myself in order to be really efficient with the time i spend with the teacher. This improves the result by a lot, but it also requires more time than i thought. Developing a routine was also useful to achieve the goal. A routine that was working for me, was to wake up earlier and get a class before going to work. Additionally, i was alternating teachers lessons days with personal review days. This also helps you optimize the cost of your learning, at the end of the month i practiced around 20-24 in total, but only 12 of those hours were with a teacher. Overall, it feels great now! I can finally start to have some short conversations with my chinese friends in chinese, but i still have a long time to go before been able to properly hold a more serious discussion. Fortunately, there will be a new language challenge soon! ?? (I have inside information!) Happy learning! Andrea P.S. Check out my AFTER challenge video below! Your students are definitely capable of handling the demands of modern technology, because as I have shared with you, you are a computer science teacher, a kind of one who understands technology and its uses and has been able to navigate these new features. Your students have seen how you make things easier by presenting and implementing software. You can teach your students about the curriculum of B.Tech in Computer Science in India and get them familiar with the concepts and terms they will encounter during their studies. The students have started to ask you questions about B.Tech Computer Science in India and you need to answer them patiently. These questions may include anything related to your studen ts' progress and what you can do to help them.Another thing your students are asking you is the quality of B.Tech tuition you offer. Some of them are confused about the different types of computer classes and the kind of courses and syllabus you are providing. Others are looking for the particular area of focus, to know more about the course they are enrolling for. You need to give a clear and specific reply about the kind of courses and curriculum that you have in your syllabus. You have to give details about the different areas of specialization like mobile computing, computer science, web designing, software development, etc. Students find it more comfortable to study in specialized subjects rather than a general course with lots of subjects blended into it.When your students go to study B.Tech in Computer Science in India, you have to explain about how to build a website. Students generally prefer to study online because they need less time to do tasks that involve information re trieval and arranging data. If you take a course in conventional format, your students will spend more time commuting from one location to another to finish their exams and they won't have enough time to study. So, when you provide them with a program that guides them through creating websites from scratch, they can start working on the project even if they have no idea about HTML or about PHP or about website design. They won't have any problems with the materials provided to them, because you prepare all the programs, including video tutorials and PowerPoint presentations and present them clearly. All these should be used by your students for the purpose of preparing themselves for the Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from one of the reputed institutes in India. It is their choice which institute they will prefer to pursue B.Tech Computer Science in India, but there are many opportunities offered to them and their choices are their teachers.
2 Simple Rules to Help You Pronounce Spanish Words
2 Simple Rules to Help You Pronounce Spanish Words Suzy S. Learning a new language can be tough especially if youre trying to speak the language, but youre not sure how to pronounce certain words! Here, Atlanta, GA tutor Sean U. shares a few tips to remember for pronouncing Spanish words During my travels through Central and South America a lot of people have asked me which language is easier to learn, English or Spanish. I always answer saying that English grammar is simpler than Spanish grammar, but its easier to learn pronunciation in Spanish than in English. For the purpose of this quick lesson, I want to explain why pronunciation is easier in Spanish and teach you some easy-to-learn tips on how to pronounce Spanish words. If you are a native English speaker, you may not realize it, but pronunciation can be very complicated especially because of the vowels. There are long vowels and short vowels, and each vowelâs pronunciation is determined by other vowels and consonants in the same word. Here is a quick example to prove it using the letter âuâ: run, ruin, tune, and tribune. The word run is pronounced with a short u. Yet, accompanied by the i in ruin or the e in tune, the vowel becomes a long u. The last word in the example, tribune, is accompanied by the same e as tune, yet the u is complemented by an imaginary y in front of it when spoken. There are many more similar examples in the English language where each vowel has numerous pronunciations that the speaker has to identify that take can take a long time to learn. Lucky for you, the purpose of this article is to understand the simplicity of Spanish pronunciation and its vowels, not the complexity of English. Letâs start with vowels again. In Spanish, vowels have one universal rule: they are always pronounced the same, no matter what. Below is a list of how to pronounce each vowel in Spanish: a=ah e=eh i=ee o=oh u=oo As far as consonants go, the majority of them are pronounced the same with a few exceptions: 1. G is pronounced as an English h when followed by e or i Ex: Gente=hehn-teh, gato=gaht-oh 2. H is always silent and never pronounced when it appears alone Ex: hecho=echo 3. J is always pronounced as an English h Ex: jugar=hoo-gahr 4. Qu is pronounced as an English k when followed by e or i (pronounce the u otherwise) Ex: Que=Keh, quotar=quoh-tahr 5. Ã' is pronounced as enye Ex: Baño=Bahn-yoh 6. Ll is pronounced as the letter y Ex: Llenar=Yeh-nahr, olla=oh-yah 7. Roll your Rs. The tongue should hit the roof of your mouth. Rr is double the roll! Here are some additional tips to help you pronounce Spanish words: There is an invisible accent mark on the second to last syllable of most words (unless it has an âaccéntâ mark on another letter) Just because it looks like a word in English does not mean it has the same pronunciation stick to the rules Never ever pronounce the h. I know I said it before, but it is worth repeating By studying these pronunciation rules, you can be on your way to learning how to speak Spanish. All it takes is practice. A Day in the Life at DePaul University
A Day in the Life at DePaul University Joseph is a current senior at DePaul University. He is majoring in computer software engineering, and specializes in C++ tutoring, study skills tutoring, and a number of other subjects. Below, he shares his experience at DePaul University: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Joseph: DePaul has two campuses for students to take advantage of. The campus in downtown Chicago is only a 15-minute train ride from the more suburban campus located in Lincoln Park. Both are great campuses where students attend classes. How available are the professors, academic advisors, and teaching assistants? Joseph:The professors are very available. They are all required to have a minimum amount of office hours weekly. I highly suggest seeing professors outside of class and getting to know them because, at the end of the day, those professors are the greatest assets the school offers. How would you describe the dorm liferooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students, etc.? Joseph:DePaul dorms are located at the Lincoln Park campus. Most school events take place at this campus, as well. While there arent university dorms at the downtown campus, students who live near this campus share housing with students from other area schoolsincluding Roosevelt University, Robert Morris University, and Columbia University. Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? What did you study and why? Joseph:I came to DePaul to study game programming, though I feel other majors are better represented. The most common major at DePaul is business. Game programming, however, does fall under the computers and digital media school, which is generally well supported and a favorite among students. How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Joseph:It was extremely easy to meet other students my freshman year. Theres a lot of diversity at DePaul, so it's easy to find where you fit in. There is Greek life, but it's not very large. How helpful are the Career Center and other student support services? Joseph:The student support centers are located at both campuses and serve both appointments and walk-ins. Those that staff these services are almost always very helpful and can point you in the right direction. The Career Center also has a website where students can post their resume and search for jobs. How are the various study areas, such as libraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Joseph:By far a favorite of students is to go to the library located at the Lincoln Park campus. This library has spaces for both group study and quiet work. Describe the surrounding town. Joseph:Lincoln Park is a nice area for exploration. It's a quiet area, but there are plenty of things to do. During the warmer months, many students will walk about a mile to go to the beach and relax. The downtown campus is much more business oriented. This area has many large buildings and shops. Many tourist attractions are also in this area and lots of students love to spend time by the river. How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Joseph:The student body is about 23,000 undergraduate students. Each class has about 25 students, while the large lecture classes have around 40 students. This way, students have a better opportunity to interact with their professors. Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one you regret the most. Joseph:I remember one class that really set the tone for me was a game engine class with one of my favorite professors. It was a time when I first felt that I was becoming a programmer, seeing how all I had learned was coming together into a large project that I was very proud of. Check out Josephs tutoring profile.
